ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia women’s tennis team will open its 2026 spring season on the road, traveling to face in-state rival Georgia Tech on Friday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. ET at the Byers Tennis Complex.

• The 38th meeting marks the second time where the Bulldogs face off against the Yellow Jackets in a season-opening match.
• Georgia leads the all-time series 31-6, having won each of its last seven meetings while taking 13 of the last 15 matches.
• The Bulldogs enter their third season of the Drake Bernstein era where he has led the Bulldogs to a combined 54–8 record over the past two years. In 2025, Georgia finished 29–3 and No. 1 nationally, winning the NCAA Championship, the ITA National Team Indoor title and a third straight SEC Tournament title.
• Seven players enter the season ranked for Georgia. In singles, Aysegul Mert leads the way at No. 6, Deniz Dilek at No. 15, Anastasiia Gureva at No. 25, Sofia Rojas at No. 50, Patricija Paukstyte at No. 55, and Anastasiia Lopata at No. 61. In doubles, the freshman duo of Emma Dong and Dilek slot in at No. 18 followed by the pairing of Gureva and Mert at No. 31.
• The Bulldogs have faced Georgia Tech’s Alejandra Cruz multiple times during the fall, with Sofia Rojas recording two singles victories. In doubles play, freshman Emily Deming and sophomore Hayden Mulberry also earned a win over Cruz and Tech’s Scarlett Nicholson during fall competition.
