Katelyn Adel Named SEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama track and field’s Katelyn Adel was named the Women’s Southeastern Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. It marked the second conference weekly honor of Adel’s career, after earning freshman of the week recognition during last year’s outdoor track season.
Adel’s tally of 4,154 points in her pentathlon season debut last weekend catapulted her to No. 2 all-time in Alabama history, as her performance at the Orange and Purple Invitational was highlighted by a trio of collegiate PRs.

- Finished first overall in her pentathlon season debut at last weekend’s Orange and Purple Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
- Recorded three consecutive collegiate PRs to begin the five-event trek, as 2,575 of her total 4,154 points came from those three performances
- 60-meter Hurdles (8.65) – 984 points
- High Jump (1.73m | 5-8) – 891 points
- Shot Put (12.58m | 41-3.25) – 700 points
- Adel’s point-total leads the SEC in the pentathlon and serves as a top-five NCAA season-point accumulation
