Tide Rolls Through Final Day of Orange and Purple Invitational
CLEMSON, S.C. – Alabama track and field wrapped up competition in electric fashion at the Orange and Purple Invitational Friday as the Tide saw an NCAA season-leading performance, an Algerian national record and a total of six different results all landed on UA’s all-time top-10 list.
Crimson Tide multi-athlete Katelyn Adel made her pentathlon season debut, accumulating an NCAA-leading 4,154 points to move to second all-time at UA. The overall victory for the sophomore All-American was highlighted by three consecutive collegiate PR performances in the 60-meter hurdles (8.65), high jump (1.73m | 5-8), and shot put (12.58m | 41-3.25).
400-meter runner Mouatez Sikiou highlighted the track events as his 45.82 performance set an Algerian national record.
Five additional Crimson Tide student-athletes captured event titles in four different track and field events, as distance runners Caren Kiplagat (women’s, 4:42.58) and Dismus Lokira (men’s, 4:04.04) swept the mile. Jumpers Caelyn Harris (long jump, 6.36m | 20-10.50) and Diamonasia Taylor (high Jump, 1.75m | 5-8.75) added their respective first-place finishes, while Treneese Hamilton also recorded a victory, in the shot put (17.08m | 56-0.50). The men’s distance medley relay contingent of Dismus Lokira, Jackson Harris, Adin Lathrop and Evan Trapp claimed the final event victory via a 9:53.69 time.
