King Collects First-Career Preseason All-America Nod
The announcement signifies the first Preseason All-America honor of King’s career and the second for the Gators this preseason overall. On Jan. 7, Liam Peterson collected First Team Preseason All-America status from Perfect Game.
After setting a program record with four SEC weekly honors during the 2025 campaign, King is poised to headline one of the nation’s fiercest starting pitching duos alongside Peterson this season. As a true freshman, the Jacksonville, Fla. native led Florida with a 2.58 ERA, .213 batting average against, 73 1/3 innings pitched and five quality starts.
In 2025, King posted the lowest ERA by a Gator across a full season since Brady Singer in 2018 (2.55) while also delivering a 7-2 record, 1.11 WHIP, 9.7 strikeouts per nine and 3.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The SEC All-Freshman Team recipient was nearly untouchable across his final five starts, going 3-1 with a 0.94 ERA, .192 BAA and 29-to-10 K-to-BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings pitched.
Preseason practice is already underway for UF, with five open practices and three intrasquad scrimmages on the books for this week. Fans can access the concourse through Gate 3 of Condron Family Ballpark (located directly behind home plate).
King and the Gators open the 2026 season at home on Friday, Feb. 13 with the first contest of a three-game series against UAB. Season tickets and SEC Saturday Packs are currently on sale and can be accessed via the baseball ticketing home.
