Newcomers Highlight Opening Day of Indiana Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Alabama’s track and field newcomers stole the show on the opening day of the Indiana Invitational, highlighted by women’s high jumper Diamonasia Taylor who set a PR in her Crimson Tide debut. Her second-place finish of 1.82 meters (5-11.50) ranks her seventh in the NCAA this season and was the eighth-best all-time mark at UA.

Sprinter Faith Osamuyi recorded the 60-meter hurdles event victory in her Alabama debut as well as a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash to propel the Tide to nine total top-five finishes on the track.

Crimson Tide multi-athlete Patrick Daves concluded the first day of the men’s heptathlon with a headlining 776-point performance in the high jump (1.97m | 6-5.50) to take the overall lead with 2,797 points. Daves will return to the track Saturday for the conclusion of the heptathlon (60m hurdles, pole vault, 1000m).
