Evan O’Steen Signs with Seattle Reign
TALLAHASSEE – Florida State soccer freshman goalkeeper Evan O’Steen has signed with the Seattle Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League, the club announced on Friday.
In her first collegiate season, O’Steen helped FSU win a national championship in 2025.
O’Steen is the sixth Florida State player to sign professionally this offseason after the team won their fifth NCAA championship in early December. She is joined in the NWSL by senior defender Heather Gilchrist (Bay FC), junior midfielder Yuna McCormack (Denver Summit), junior defender Mimi Van Zanten (San Diego Wave) and sophomore midfielder/forward Taylor Suarez (Angel City FC), while senior forward Giana Riley (Club América) signed in Liga MX Femenil.
“I’d like to thank FSU for helping me prepare for the future in my season here,” O’Steen said. “Not only on the field but off the field too. Not only becoming a better soccer player but a better human. I want to thank the coaches and everyone behind the scenes that made my time here so easy!”
“Evan has tremendous potential,” FSU head coach Brian Pensky said. “She showed a lot of growth in her short time at FSU. We are confident that growth will continue, and that she will reach all of the goals she sets out for herself.”
O’Steen will join former Seminole goalkeeper Cassie Miller (FSU 2013-17) on Seattle’s roster.
“I’m honored to sign with Seattle Reign FC,” O’Steen said to Seattle. “Training with the club provided me with a clear sense of the standards and culture here, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing in this incredible environment.”
A Grapevine, Texas, native, O’Steen played in four games in her freshman season for the Seminoles in 2025 with two starts. She made two saves and did not allow a goal in 169 minutes. Three of O’Steen’s four appearances were 45 minutes, as she contributed to three shutouts and helped FSU to a 3-0-1 record in her four games.
Internationally for Team USA, O’Steen played in the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Morocco in October. She started the first two games of group play and the Round of 16 match with one shutout as the team went 3-0-1 in the tournament. O’Steen also earned Golden Glove honors at the 2024 U-17 World Cup with four clean sheets.
