Walton County Public Works Improving Infrastructure
Walton County – 01/12/26 – Walton County Public Works is making progress on ongoing county infrastructure projects. The dedicated in-house crews have been hard at work each week. Below are some of the key highlights.
CROOKED CREEK ROAD OVERLAY PROJECT
Project Improvements:
• The overlay operation will commence on Crooked Creek Road extending from CR 183S and will proceed for approximately 2.3 miles, terminating at Knox Hill Road
• Pavement striping
Current Status:
• Completed
Traffic Impacts:
Intermittent shoulder and lane closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project.
GEORGE MONTGOMERY ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT
Project Improvements:
• Paving 1.45 miles section of George Montgomery Road, extending from the end of asphalt to County Highway 183
• Drainage Improvements
• Stabilization
• Pavement Striping
Current Status:
• Pavement Striping
Traffic Impacts:
Intermittent shoulder and lane closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project.
FOREST SHORE DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
Project Improvements:
• Drainage system along Forest Shore Road
• Construction of a new sidewalk
• Installation of new sod in right-of-way
Current Status:
• Under Construction
General Information:
• This project was designed by Kimley-Horn
• This project is funded through the South Walton Infrastructure Funds and $400,000 from the Sidewalk Funds
Traffic Impacts:
Intermittent shoulder and lane closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project.
ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS ALONG NORTH SIDE OF CR 30A
Project Improvements:
• Asphalt apron installations along the 30A corridor. Work will take place at the following locations:
• Thyme Street: 150 feet
• Hickory Street: 125 feet
• Azalea Street: 100 feet
• Camellia Street: 100 feet
• Gardenia Street: 250 feet
• Montigo Avenue: 200 feet
• Live Oak, Nightcap, Holly, and N. Dothan Avenue: Apron work within the CR 30A right of way only.
Current Status:
• Under Construction
These improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance roadway safety, improve drainage, and support long-term infrastructure maintenance along the 30A corridor.

Intermittent shoulder and lane closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project.
OVERLAY IMPROVEMENTS-ARGYLE AREA
Project Improvements:
• The work focuses on resurfacing existing roadways that have experienced wear and deterioration over time. Work will take place at the following locations:
• Aspen Lane
• Alice Drive
• Catalpa Drive
• Beech Lane
• Trainer Court
• Asphalt overlay installation
• Final Pavement striping
Current Status:
• Overlay Completed
• Pavement striping
Traffic Impacts:
Intermittent shoulder and lane closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project.
CR 30A MULTI-USE PATH RECONSTRUCTION FROM CR 395 TO SOMERSET BRIDGE
Project Improvements:
• Installation of a new shared use path, drainage and shoulder improvements
Current Status:
• Under Construction
Please be advised that work will remain within established right-of-way limits.
Traffic Impacts:
During construction, you may observe workers, equipment, temporary traffic controls, and general activity typical of roadway and multi-use path construction.
W PARK PLACE OVERLAY
Project Improvements:
• The overlay operation will commence on W Park Place extending from S Walton Lakeshore Drive and will proceed for approximately .43 miles, terminating at the end of maintenance.
Current Status:
• Overlay completed
• Pavement striping
Traffic Impacts:
Intermittent shoulder and lane closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project.
ADDITIONAL PROJECTS
• New LSV Lane (CR 30A and Deer Lake) along CR 30A and Deer Lake (base complete)
• New Agriculture Center (west off Hwy 90): Installation of mulch
• Sunrise Road: Removal of rumble strips
• Mack Bayou Road: Removal of rumble strips
• CR 1883-Drainage improvements are 90% complete (awaiting headwall delivery)
• Eagle Springs Golf Course Entrance: Installation of new pipes and road base for the road to the maintenance center. Mitered ends have been poured.
• East Inlet Beach: removal of old bike path on the east end of CR 30A
• Edgewood Circle: Installation of new Type C inlet to improve drainage issue
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and existing the roadway.
