BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama track and field student-athlete Barry Evans has been selected to attend the 2026 NCAA Convention as a representative of the Southeastern Conference, the league office announced Monday.

Evans will serve as the SEC’s student-athlete representative as part of the NCAA’s continued efforts to engage and empower student-athletes by providing them with both a voice and a vote within the organization’s decision-making process. The NCAA Convention is scheduled for Jan. 13–16 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

A native of Mascoutah, Ill., Evans is currently the chair of the SEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and also serves as the SEC’s Division I SAAC representative. This marks the second consecutive year Evans has attended the NCAA Convention, further highlighting his leadership and advocacy on behalf of student-athletes across the conference and nationally. In addition to his role with SAAC, Evans has participated in the SEC Spring Meetings the past two years, where he worked alongside fellow student-athletes to provide insight and feedback on issues impacting the collegiate student-athlete experience.
