Bassong Leads Seminoles Against NC State
The Seminoles fell to 7-9 overall and 0-3 in the ACC. NC State improved to 12-5 and 3-1 in ACC play.
Bassong’s 14 points marked a career high. His previous career high was 10 points, which he set against Mississippi Valley State on December 19 and Jacksonville on December 22.
Bassong led the team in scoring for the first time this season. He has now scored double-digit points in three games during his freshman season. The freshman has scored in every game this season.
MaGee put the Seminoles on the board with a 3-point shot early in the first half.
The Wolfpack led 15-3 with 11:52 left in the first half. MaGee’s second 3-point shot of the game cut the lead to single digits, 15-6, with 11:26 to go.
MaGee finished with two made 3-point shots and added two rebounds and an assist to his performance.
NC State led the Seminoles 48-20 with just over three minutes to go in the first half. Florida State would go on a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to cut the lead to 48-26.
The Seminoles entered the half trailing 56-31.
McCray V finished with double-digit points for the third consecutive game and for the 13th game in the Seminoles’ 16 games this season.
The Seminoles began the second half on an 8-0 run, capped by a Jones’ layup in transition. Florida State cut the Wolfpack’s lead to 56-39 with 18:27 to go in the game.
Jones scored seven of his 10 points in the second half. He also recorded a team-high two steals.
The Seminoles travel to Syracuse to take on the Orange on January 13 at 9:00 p.m.
