Six Former Noles Set to Return to Tallahassee for World Athletic Cross Country Championships
TALLAHASSEE – Six former Seminoles are set to make a return to Tallahassee for the 46th World Athletics Cross Country Championships on Saturday, January 10, at Apalachee Regional Park.
Tallahassee marks the third time the United States has hosted the World event, and the first since 1992, when it was held in Boston. New York also hosted the championship in 1984. A total of 485 athletes from 52 federations are entered for the global event.
Saturday’s schedule will feature six races in total, including two senior races with mixed relays for both the men’s and women’s teams. Each loop of the course will highlight six custom-designed Florida-themed elements celebrating Tallahassee, Leon County, and Florida’s natural resources.
Linden Hall will represent Australia in the mixed relays. Lauren Ryan and Maudie Skyring are also set to represent Australia in the women’s senior races. David Mullarkey, who was named the 2023 ACC Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year, will lace up for Great Britain in the men’s senior races. Ahmed Muhumed (USA) and Adriaan Wildschutt (South Africa) are set to compete alongside Mullarkey.
Wildschutt owns three ACC titles in the 3,000-meter, outdoor 10,000 and claimed the 2021 ACC Cross Country Championship individual title. Wildschutt was named the 2020 South Region Athlete of the Year after placing second at the NCAA Championships to become the highest finisher in FSU history. The South African native ran the third-fastest ARP course time in program history during his stint as a Seminole.
