Chauncey Wiggins Is Playing His Best Basketball As NC State Comes To Tallahassee

Last Updated: January 9, 2026By

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State’s Chauncey Wiggins is playing the best basketball of his career at a very opportune time for the Seminole men’s basketball team.

The senior has scored in double-figures (70 points / 17.5 ppg), is shooting .532 from the field (25 of 47), is shooting .423 from the 3-point line (11 of 26), and is shooting .750 from the free throw line (nine of 12) in his last four games.

Wiggins will look to extend his career-best double-figure scoring streak to five consecutive games when NC State comes to the Donald L. Tucker for an 12 Noon tip-off on Saturday.

The Seminoles play host to the Wolfpack in a game that can be seen on the ACC Network with Doug Sherman and Scott Williams on the call. Jeff Culhane and Adrian Crawford will have the radio call on the Seminoles Sports Network.

Tickets are available for Saturday’s game at Seminoles.com. Tickets for Florida State students are free; they can be claimed here.

Truist Bank is the official game sponsor of Florida State’s game against NC State.

Truist Bank is excited to provide 1,000 custom Gold Florida State Basketball T-shirts for fans in attendance at the Tucker Center on Saturday when the Seminoles take on the Wolfpack. Fans can get their hands on these t-shirts as they enter the gates, and they will be available on a first come basis. Truist is the Official Retail Bank of Florida State Athletics and is a proud supporter FSU Basketball.

Wiggins enters Saturday’s game against NC State averaging career-high statistics in nearly every category on his personal statistics sheet. He’s averaging career-highs for points (13.0 ppg), rebounds (4.6 rpg), minutes played (16.1 mpg) , and free throw shooting percentage (.897). He’s been a starter in 12 of the 14 games he’s played in at the midway point in the season.

“Coming into 2026 I want to play with a free mindset,” said Wiggins, who was the Seminoles player guest on the Inside Seminole Basketball television/radio show earlier this week. “I’m just trying to be productive out there on the floor and trying to get wins for our team.”

Wiggins enjoyed quite an opening week to ACC play against North Carolina and Duke.

He led Florida State in scoring in the Seminoles’ first two ACC games against No. 12 North Carolina (16 points) and No. 6 Duke (22 points). He totaled his first career ACC double-double with 10 rebounds against the Tar Heels and made a career-high tying four 3-point field goals against the Blue Devils.

Wiggins has been a standout for the Seminoles from both the 3-point and the free throw lines in his first season at Florida State. He played his first three collegiate seasons at Clemson.

He is one of three Seminoles with 30 or more made 3-point shots and is shooting a team-leading and career-high .897 from the free throw line.

Wiggins has made at least one 3-point shot in 13 of his 14 games, including seven in his last two games against North Carolina and Duke. He tied his career-high with four 3-point shots made against Duke and enters Saturday’s game against NC State shooting .500 from the 3-point line (seven of 14) in ACC play.

Wiggins, who has drawn 28 fouls in the first 15 games of the season, has also cashed in on his ability to get to the free throw line.

Wiggins made the first 17 free throws of his Florida State career in his first 10 games and enters Saturday’s game against NC State having made 26 free throws; he made his single-season career-high of 29 free throws during his 2024-25 season at Clemson. As an 80 percent free throw shooter during his 111-game career, he is shooting his career-high and is above 80 percent from the free throw line for the second consecutive season.

Wiggins is shooting .846 and averaging 12.2 points scored per game in the last two seasons and 48 games at Clemson and Florida State.

“I’ve been a shooter since a young age,” said Wiggins. “When Coach Loucks and his staff recruited me and said they wanted me to shoot 3’s, I was all for it. That’s what most of us do; that’s what we live by. I’m a three-level scorer. I can score inside, outside, and in the mid-range area.”

Wiggins has impressed Loucks from the start of the recruiting period during the spring.

“Chauncey is so talented, he’s such a good kid, and he works so hard,” said Loucks. “He has worked extremely hard in the gym. He’s worked to grow his relationship with his teammates, and most importantly, that work is now translating to on-court results.

“When Chauncey Wiggins is good, we are a really good team. It’s as simple as that. We need his production. He’s got an extreme amount of talent. He’s got a good combination of size and skill that you just can’t teach. When he puts his best effort forward we are a really tough team.”

Wiggins, who earned his first career double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds against Georgia Southern earlier this season, has more double-doubles this season (two) than he totaled in his first 97 games of his career. Additionally, his two games of 22 points scored are two more than he totaled in his first three seasons as Clemson.

As he faces NC State for the fifth time in his career on Saturday and while wearing a Florida State uniform for the first time, his leadership comes from his experiences.

“I tell the guys when we go on these road trips that most of these places are going to be loud,” said Wiggins. “I tell them that we need to stay connected and play as a team.”
