ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia Athletic Association executive committee unanimously approved an adjustment to the current contract of J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks. The vote took place Monday afternoon via teleconference.

“Since his hiring, Josh Brooks has been an outstanding leader for Georgia Athletics and proven to be one of the nation’s most successful and widely respected athletic directors,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “I am pleased we have secured his long-term future with the University of Georgia.”

Brooks’ contract has been extended an additional year to 2031, with a base salary annual increase of $125,000 per year.

His six-year average yearly compensation, not including incentives, moves from $1.525 million to $1.750 million. Other adjustments include increased goal-based incentives for student-athlete academic performance and final Learfield Directors Cup standings.

“I want to thank President Morehead for his leadership and his unwavering support and guidance throughout my five years as athletic director,” Brooks said. “At the University of Georgia, I am surrounded by the brightest people in our profession. Without the colleagues I serve alongside every day, our coaches and student-athletes, none of these accomplishments are possible. My family and I are honored to be a part of the Bulldog family, and we look forward to many more years leading this academic and athletic powerhouse.”

After tying the school record with four national titles this past spring, Georgia Athletics continues to thrive under Brooks’ leadership.

In addition to national championships in women’s tennis, women’s track and equestrian, Georgia football earned back-to-back SEC crowns for the first time since 1980, the Bulldog basketball programs set a new school mark with a 24-1 combined record to start the season, baseball compiled 86 wins and earned a top-8 national seed in each of the last two years, soccer made the NCAA tournament in four-straight seasons for the first time in program history, and men’s cross country made the NCAA championships for the first time in 12 years.

That success has carried over into the classroom, where Georgia student-athletes set a new school record for the highest GPA in an academic season with a 3.26 cumulative GPA. Georgia also boasted the SEC Roy F. Kramer Female Athlete of the Year in Dasha Vidmanova, the SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the year in Abby McCulloh and a pair of Honda Award winners (Vidmanova and Aaliyah Butler).
