Wiggins Leads Four Seminoles In Double Figures To 96-49 Win Over Mississippi Valley State
Florida State improved to 6-6, and Mississippi Valley State fell to 1-11. The Seminoles are now 6-1 when playing at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
The Seminoles outrebounded the Delta Devils 40-31. Florida State has now its outrebounded in four consecutive game. Alex Steen grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and added four points. Steen, the ACC’s leader in offensive rebounds, totaled five offensive rebounds and four defensive rebounds.
Thomas Bassong set a career-high for scoring with 10 points. Bassong added two rebounds and a steal to his night.
Robert McCray V opened the game with a 3-point shot to put the Seminoles ahead 3-0. The Seminoles never trailed after McCray V made his first shot of the game. Nine of Florida State’s first 12 points came from long range.
McCray V finished the game with 13 points and a game-high seven assists. He has scored in double-figures in five consecutive games and led the team in assists for the tenth time this season.
Florida State held a 12-7 lead with 15:13 left to play in the first half.
The Seminoles went on a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 17, 24-7. Miles scored eight of the twelve points during that run.
A Wiggins jumper sparked a 12-0 run for the Seminoles which included nine points off turnovers.
Florida State scored 31 total points off turnovers and forced Mississippi Valley State into 25 turnovers, 14 of which were steals.
Florida State ended the first half on a 15-2 run and led the Delta Devils 54-17. 17 points is the fewest points the Seminoles have allowed in any half this season.
McCray V opened the second half with a slam dunk thanks to an assist from Martin Somerville.
Somerville finished the game with six points, four rebounds, and four assists. Somerville has made a 3-point shot in every game this season. He has now made at least one 3-point shot in 40 consecutive games.
Florida State outscored the Delta Devils 42-32 in the second half and made five 3-point shots to close out the game. Wiggins made two of his five 3-point shots in the second half.
Shah Muhammad scored his season-high of seven points, all of which came in the second half, and finished with a game-high two blocks.
The Seminoles will take on the Jacksonville University Dolphins at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Monday, December 22, at 7:00 p.m.
