Two Gators Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team
To be eligible for recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and have a 3.50 grade point average or above. Athletically, nominees must have competed in 90 percent or started in at least 66 percent of the team’s matches.
Byrd was selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. The redshirt sophomore led Florida’s offense 23 times during the regular season as well as 19 times in points. The 6-4 outside hitter finish with a team-high 425 kills (3.97/set) and in points with 457.5 (4.28/set). The Sarasota, Florida, native registered double-digit kills in 25 of the Gators’ 28 regular-season matches, including five showings with 20 or more. Byrd adds to her All-SEC Second Team and AVCA Southeast Region First Team honors.
Rothe started in all 28 matches for the Gators and totaled a team-high 111.0 blocks, finishing with 98 block assists and 13 solo. The Dublin, Ohio native recorded seven double-digit scoring performances and finished with a career-best .636 hitting clip against Norfolk State on Aug. 31. She registered .500-plus matches versus Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Georgia, while hitting between .300-.399 nine times and .400-.499 seven times. The middle blocker also earned AVCA Southeast Region First Team honors.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 13, 2026.
