11 Bulldogs Earn Coaches All-SEC Honors
The SEC Champion Bulldogs (12-1) placed a pair on the First Team in junior linebacker CJ Allen and senior snapper Beau Gardner. Allen, who was a finalist for the Butkus Award and the Lott IMPACT Trophy, ranked among the SEC leaders in tackles per game. He has a team-high 85 stops in 12 starts. Garnder is a finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award which goes to the nation’s best snapper. This season, he has snapped on 65 of 66 PAT/Field Goal attempts plus 48 punts.
The Coaches All-SEC Second Team featured six Bulldogs in junior Zachariah Branch (WR), redshirt junior Drew Bobo (C), junior Monroe Freeling (OL), sophomore KJ Bolden (DB), senior Brett Thorson (P) and junior Peyton Woodring (PK). The All-SEC Third Team featured redshirt junior Gunner Stockton (QB), sophomore Nate Frazier (RB) and senior Daylen Everette (DB) while Branch also made the team as all-purpose selection.
The SEC’s individual award winners will be announced on Wednesday. The league’s Freshman All-SEC Team will be announced on Thursday.
Third-ranked Georgia has earned a first round bye in the College Football Playoffs (CFP). The Bulldogs will play in the CFP quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1 at 8 p.m. EST against either No. 6 Ole Miss or No. 20 Tulane. The Rebels (11-1) play host to the Green Wave (11-2) in first-round CFP action on Dec. 20 at 3:30 EST.
