Alabama Records Strong Showing on Day Two of UGA Fall Invite

ATHENS, Ga. – A 1-2 finish from Gaby Van Brunt and Emily Jones as well as a first-place finish from the women’s 200 freestyle relay paced the Alabama swimming and diving team on the second day of the UGA Fall Invite.

With a career-best time of 51.01, Van Brunt captured the top-time in the 100 butterfly as Jones followed with a career-best 51.53 for second place in the event.

Additionally, Cadence Vincent, Jones, Jada Scott and Charlotte Rosendale clocked a 1:26.90 in the 200 free relay, winning the event by a second.

After the second day of events, the women’s team is in fourth place with 256 points, while the men’s team is in fifth place with 191 points. 

Highlights

  • With her career-best swim, Van Brunt moved to second all-time at UA, while Jones moved to third on the all-time list
  • Scott moved to 10th on UA’s all-time top-10 list in the 100 breast with a time of 59.80 as Sydney Sanders’ 4:12.07 in the 400 IM placed her ninth all-time
  • Tommy Hagar posted UA’s 10th all-time fastest performance in the 200 free with a time of 1:34.38
  • Van Brunt’s 100 fly time would place her second nationally heading into the weekend as the women’s 200 free relay’s time of 1:26.90 landed third nationally
