Alabama Earns No. 4 Seed in Midwest Region, Will Face No. 13 Hofstra in NCAA Tournament First Round

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama men’s basketball team earned a No. 4 seed in the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and will face No. 12-seeded Hofstra in the Midwest Region on Friday, March 20, in Tampa, Fla. Tipoff time and television information will be announced at a later time.

The winner of Friday’s opening round game will face the winner of No. 5 seed Texas Tech and No. 12 seed Akron.

It marks the 26th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, with Alabama owning a record of 30-25 (.545). The Crimson Tide is the only team in Division I to appear in a Final Four as well as an Elite Eight during the last two seasons.

NCAA Tournament Notes

  • This marks the sixth tournament appearance in Nate Oats‘ seven seasons as the Crimson Tide head coach
  • It is the first time in program history the Crimson Tide has earned a No. 4 seed or better in four consecutive NCAA Tournaments (No. 2 seed in 2025, No. 4 seed in 2024 and No. 1 seed in 2023)
  • This marks Alabama’s sixth straight NCAA appearance, matching a program-record which was originally set with six consecutive trips from 1982-87* (*Alabama’s 1987 NCAA Tournament appearance was later vacated)
  • Oats has guided his teams to NCAA Tournament appearances in nine of the 10 years the event was held during his coaching career, including each year as the Tide’s head coach (tournament was cancelled in 2020 due to the worldwide pandemic)

  • TIDE PRIDE members who submitted their NCAA Tournament ticket requests by the March 8 deadline will be notified of the status of their request via email on Monday
