TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball’s Myles Upchurch was named Perfect Game USA’s Co-Freshman of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.

Upchurch was honored by Perfect Game following his dominant outing against North Florida on March 8. The freshman struck out a career-best 11 hitters across a career-high 6.0 innings on Sunday, helping Alabama to a series sweep of the Ospreys. Upchurch’s 11 strikeouts were tied for the most by a Crimson Tide hurler so far this season.

• Owns a 3-1 record with a 1.91 ERA (4 ER/18.2 IP) over his first four collegiate starts
• Managed a 14.9 K/9 mark (31 K/18.2 IP) in his four starts, the highest mark among Alabama arms
• His 14.9 K/9 is 16^th in Division I and fifth best in the Southeastern Conference
• Leads the Tide with a 41.9 strikeout percentage while his .539 opponent OPS stands a team-low
• Upchurch’s 31 strikeouts lead all Division I freshmen, with his 11-strikeout start against North Florida is tied for the most by a freshman pitcher in a single appearance so far this season
