Clark Completes NCAA Qualification Sweep at Zones
ATHENS, Ga. – Redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark secured her third NCAA qualification in three events, punching her ticket on platform as the No.13/NR Florida State swimming and diving team continued competition at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens, Georgia, on Tuesday.
Clark finished third overall on platform to go a perfect three-for-three in qualifying for the national championship meet.
“I’m really excited Kayleigh has a full event list for NCAAs,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “I couldn’t be prouder of her.”
Clark is the first FSU women’s diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships in all three events since Molly Carlson in 2020.
On Tuesday, Clark finished third overall on platform with a score of 624.50, improving her prelims mark of 304.10. After finishing 19th on platform (262.60) and 23rd on 3-meter (294.50) at the 2025 NCAA Championships, she will return to NCAAs for the second time in her career.
The Seminole women concluded their portion of the four-day zone diving competition with the platform event on Tuesday afternoon. FSU was represented by Clark and freshman Brooklyn Markussson in the finals.
Markusson placed ninth overall on platform with a score of 242.50 after reaching finals at Zones for the first time.
The top seven finishers in the women’s platform final advanced to the NCAA Championships.
The Seminole men continued their competition Tuesday on 3-meter. Senior Jack Bessire advanced to the finals, finishing 17th overall with a score of 704.45 after placing 16th in prelims (354.90).
Freshman Jack Sparks finished 20th (344.60), sophomore Carlos Vargas followed in 23rd (335.40), sophomore Hayden Schroeder was 24th (334.45) and freshman Maxwell Shaver finished 25th (325.20)
The top 18 divers from prelims advanced to the finals round, and the top seven from finals qualify for NCAAs.
Zones will conclude on Wednesday, March 11, with the men’s platform beginning at 11:15 a.m. ET.
