Alabama Remains Undefeated with 8-1 Win over Samford Tuesday in Tuscaloosa
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball remains undefeated on the season following an 8-1 win Tuesday night over Samford at Rhoads Stadium.
After two scoreless innings between Alabama (24-0) and Samford (9-18), the Crimson Tide burst into the run column with a four-run third inning sparked by a two-run home run from Brooke Wells, her first of two homers in the game. The reigning SEC Player of the Week now leads the team with 10 home runs this season, just one ahead of Alexis Pupillo who launched her ninth of the year to lead off the home half of the fourth. The pair each had three hits in the game, combining for five runs scored and four RBIs.
In the circle, Kaitlyn Pallozzi threw 3.0 innings in the start but Vic Moten (10-0) ultimately took home the win in relief, facing just 10 batters across 3.0 innings. Alea Johnson threw an eight-pitch seventh inning to close out the game, with seven of those pitches going for strikes.
“Our pitching and defense have been great lately and today was no different. We are excited to be 24-0 this far in the season, but we are not complacent. This is a huge series coming up with Arkansas, and our team knows that one of my pet peeves is losing at home. We are going to do everything to protect the Rhoads house and keep working hard. Everyone is still bought in and it’s a great team to be able to coach.”
