No. 1 Bulldogs Travel to Face No. 35 Vanderbilt, Mizzou

ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 1 Georgia women’s tennis team (8-1, 3-0 SEC) will travel for its first full road weekend of the season where it will take on No. 35 Vanderbilt (11-4, 1-2 SEC) on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. ET in Nashville, Tenn., followed by Mizzou (9-5, 0-3 SEC) on Sunday, March 8 at 11:30 a.m. ET in Columbia, Mo.
 
Fast Facts

  • The Bulldogs lead the all-time series with the Vanderbilt Commodores 40-13, with the last meeting resulting in a 4-3 victory in Athens.
  • Georgia owns a 4-0 record so far this season against opponents ranked in the top 15.
  • Against Mizzou, Georgia is 13-0 all-time.

Scouting the Opponents
Vanderbilt

  • Entering the weekend, Vanderbilt is coming off a two-match losing streak to Texas and Texas A&M, opponents Georgia will face next week.
  • Vanderbilt enters this weeks ITA rankings with three doubles pairs and four in singles.
  • In doubles, Célia-Belle Mohr and sophomore Sophia Webster are ranked No. 5. Junior Valeria Ray and senior Bridget Stammel check in at No. 16. Lastly, the freshman pair of Mia Yamakita and Erin Pearce are ranked No. 88.
  • In singles, Ray is Vanderbilt’s top-ranked singles player at No. 21. Mohr follows at No. 24, Stammel is ranked No. 42, and Yamakita rounds out Vanderbilt’s ranked singles players at No. 85.

Mizzou

  • Missouri enters the match with a 9-5 overall record and is still searching for its first SEC win at 0-3 in conference play.
  • The Tigers most recently earned a 4-0 victory over Lindenwood on March 1.
  • Senior Andrea Artimedi and sophomore Gian Octa lead the team in doubles while Sophomore Korina Roso leads the team in singles at the No. 1 position.
