HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Florida State’s Elin Pudas Remler is in a tie for third place in the individual standings, and the No. 26 Seminoles are in second place in the team standings after the first of three rounds at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club. Pudas Remler is just four strokes out of the individual lead and the Seminoles are just eight strokes out of the team lead in one of the most power packed tournaments in all of women’s golf with 12 teams – including the Seminoles – in the top 30 of the team rankings.

Farah O’Keefe of Texas is the round one leader with a seven under par score of 64. The Longhorn junior carded six birdies and was never over par during the round. O’Keefe holds a three stroke lead over teammate Lauren Kim  who carded a 3 under par score of 68. With the top two golfers in the individual standings wearing burnt orange and white, Texas is the overall team leader. The Longhorns were the only team to finish under par in the first round.

“We like to play hard golf courses and this is a hard course,” said head coach Amy Bond, who celebrated her birthday yesterday. “I thought the girls played with great composure today especially on holes 11 through 14 when the wind really blew.

“I also thought the girls took advantage of the outside distractions of the wonderful number of spectators and the cameras from the Golf Channel. They all used those distractions to their advantages.”

Florida State is currently placed ahead of three teams currently ranked in the top-10, eight teams in the top-20, and nine teams ranked in the top-30. The Seminoles are also the highest placing team from the ACC and are  eight strokes ahead of No. 6 Wake Forest (tied for fourth), and nine strokes ahead of No. 12 Duke (tied for sixth).

Pudas Remler carded her second round of under par 69 this spring. She also carded a 69 in the final round of the Collegiate Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club on January 31. Pudas Remler has now carded six career rounds in the 60s with her career low round of 67 coming in the fall 2024 Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational.

During Monday’s first of the Darius Rucker, she carded three birdies and 16 holes at par or better and was never above par during the round. She carded two birdies on her final four holes to finish as one of eight golfers under part in the first round of the event.

Two Seminoles – Sophia Fullbrook and Layla Pedrique – finished with even par scores of 71 and tied for eighth in the individual standings. Both golfers totaled three birdies during the round.

Fullbrook carded two birdies on her front nine and one on her back nine and has carded five of seven rounds at par or better this spring.

Pedrique matched her career-best score of 71 with three birdies. She also carded a 71 in the first round of the spring 2025 Moon Invitational in her first career collegiate round.
