Landers Highlights Day Two of SEC Indoor Championships with Bronze in Heptathlon
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Alabama track and field heptathlete John Landers captured bronze to headline the second day of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships.
Landers’ third-place finish (six points) was joined by Patrick Daves, who scored three points off a sixth-place finish in the event. Including the pentathlon, Alabama tallied 23 points and had three athletes podium in a multis-event, as Katelyn Adel (second, eight points) and Miracle Ailes (third, six points) medaled on Thursday.
On the track, Hamdani Benahmed (4:03.95, q) and Milicent Wafula (4:37.64, q) advanced to Saturday’s event final in the men’s and women’s mile. A 2025 All-American and national champion, Samuel Ogazi clocked the fastest 400-meter time (45.30, q) in the men’s preliminary round to advance to Saturday’s event final.
At the end of the second day, the UA women lead the conference with 38 points, while the UA men sit in third with 24 points.
