Alabama Softball Grabs Three National Weekly Awards
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball continues to earn national attention for its 4-0 weekend in Tallahassee and a pair of top 10 road wins, collecting a trio of weekly accolades from three different national publications.
Alexis Pupillo is the Softball America Star Player of the Week, Kaitlyn Pallozzi is the D1 Softball National Freshman of the Week and Pallozzi also shares Softball On SI Co-Freshman of the Week honors with teammate Vic Moten.
Pupillo batted .538 (7-for-13) on the weekend with five runs scored, a double, three home runs and six RBIs. She had at least one hit in all four games last weekend, finishing the weekend with three straight multi-hit efforts including both games against Florida State. All three of her home runs came against the Seminoles, blasting two in the Saturday rematch for her fifth career multi-homer game and her first as a member of the Crimson Tide.
Pallozzi, who was also the SEC Freshman of the Week, opened the Crimson Tide’s weekend with a bang, throwing a perfect game Friday vs. Elon. The Wixom, Mich., native is the first freshman in program history to throw a perfect game and it is just the 10th perfect game all-time at Alabama, the first since Montana Fouts on May 5, 2023 at Ole Miss.
Moten, the reigning SEC Pitcher of the Week, threw a complete-game shutout on the road over the sixth-ranked Seminoles, holding them to just three hits while striking out a season-high seven. On Sunday, she threw 2.2 hitless relief innings vs. Dartmouth to earn the win, tacking on four more strikeouts to her weekend total. She has now thrown 23.2 consecutive scoreless innings, with her last run allowed coming in the first inning against Georgia Tech on Feb. 7.
