Georgia Track & Field’s Matias Reynaga Resets Men’s Mile School Record

Columbia, S.C. — Georgia track & field closes out the indoor regular season by setting a new school record in the men’s mile at South Carolina’s USC Invite held at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Indoor Track & Field Facility on Saturday.

Graduate transfer Matias Reynaga reset the Georgia indoor men’s mile school record with an excellent performance today that also earned him the event win. Reynaga crossed the finish line at 4:00.24 just short of a sub-4 minute mile. 

Junior Ryan Olree also posted a stellar performance in the men’s mile crossing the line at 4:01.59, a career-best effort that also broke the previous school record. Olree n ow ranks second in program history indoors.   

With the indoor regular season wrapped up, the Bulldogs now look ahead to postseason starting with the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Conference Championships are hosted by Texas A&M for the second straight year and set for Feb. 26th-28th at the R.A. “Murray” Fasken ’38 Indoor Track & Field.
