ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 1 Georgia women’s tennis team (5-1, 0-0) is set to open its Southeastern Conference schedule when it travels to No. 16 South Carolina (7-1, 0-0) on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Carolina Tennis Center.

• The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 55-17.
• No. 1 Georgia enters the weekend with six Bulldogs listed in the latest ITA singles rankings. Aysegul Mert heads the top of the list at No. 7 followed by Anastasiia Gureva at No. 30, Deniz Dilek at No. 41, Anastasiia Lopata at No. 48, Sofia Rojas at No. 52, and Patricija Paukstyte at No. 91.
• In doubles, the Turkish duo of Dilek and Mert slot in at No. 8 followed by Dilek and Emma Dong at No. 35, Gureva and Mert check in at No. 46, and Lopata and Paukstyte at No. 77.
• Last season in the 2025 SEC opener in Athens, No. 1 Georgia rolled past No. 49 South Carolina 6-1, taking the doubles point and winning five of six singles flights on the way to the victory.

 
Scouting the Opponents

• South Carolina heads into conference play with one player in the latest ITA singles rankings. Kaitlyn Carnicella leads the team at No. 63.
• In doubles, the Gamecocks have three ranked pairs. Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald come in at No. 18 with Carnicella and Bella Bergqvist Larsson right behind at No.19 followed by Friedman and Sara Borkop at No. 73.
