Alabama Adds Two Medals on Fourth Night of SEC Championships
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama swimming and diving team captured a pair of third-place finishes on the fourth night of competition at the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships.
Tessa Giele used a school-record-breaking performance in the 100 butterfly to earn a bronze medal, turning in a 50.55 time to top the previous record set by Rhyan White (50.75) in 2021. Giele would join Emily Jones, Charlotte Rosendale and Cadence Vincent later in the meet as a member of the team’s 400 medley relay. The quartet clocked a season-best 3:27.13 for third place.

- The women’s 100 butterfly highlighted the night as Giele’s school record and bronze medal paced a trio of UA athletes in the event
- Emily Jones would better her career best time in the 100 fly to place fifth with a 51.13, as Gaby Van Brunt followed in sixth place with a 51.71

- Hagar clocked a 1:32.70, improving his career-best swim from earlier in the week (1:33.15) as the leadoff swimmer in the men’s 800 free relay
- Ella Jones earned a spot on UA’s all-time top-10 list in the 200 freestyle with a 1:46.80 in the prelims to rank 10th in Alabama history
- Both 400 medley relay teams would secure season-best performances to close out the night
- The Alabama women’s team is ranked sixth with 401 points, while the men’s team is in eighth place with 313.5 points

- Alabama will compete in the 200 breaststroke, 50 free, 500 free, men’s platform and 200 free relay (finals only) on Friday
- Swimming prelims will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT, while diving prelims will start at 11 a.m.
