Fullbrook’s Hole In One Highlights Final Day at Moon Invitational For No. 26 Florida State
Melbourne, Fla. – Sophomore Sophia Fullbrook carded her first career hole-in-one and the Florida State women’s golf team finished 12th place in the team standings as play in the Moon Invitational at the Suntree Country Club came to a conclusion. Fullbrook finished in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings as she carded a 1 under par score of 71 in the final round of play.
Fullbrook’s hole-in-one was the first by a Seminole since October 11, 2022 when Charlotte Heath aced hole No. 10 at the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J during match play in the Ivy Intercollegiate.
Auburn played the only under par round of golf in the third round and rallied to win the team championship. The Tigers shot a 6-under par team score in the final round and surpassed Texas A&M to finish in first place in the team standings. Vanessa Borovilos of Texas A&M finished with scores of 70-68-71 for a three-round total of 219 to claim the individual.
Freshman Haruhi Nakatani led the Seminoles as she finished in a tie for 13th place in the individual standings with scores of 71-76-71 for a three-round total of four over par 218. She carded four birdies as she finished under par in two of three rounds during the tournament.
Fullbrook finished in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings with scores of 74-74-72 for a three round total of 6 over par, 220. She played her best golf of the championship with two birdies and her hole-in-one as she finished 1 under par on her final back nine of the championship.
Fullbrook, who is currently ranked 45th nationally in the Scoreboard by Clipp’d rankings, now has three eagles and one hole-in-one on her Florida State resume. She earned her most recent eagle on January 30 in the first round of the Collegiate Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club.
Florida State is back on the course at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate (March 2-4) at the Long Cove Golf Club in Hilton Head Island. The Seminoles play host to the jewel of their schedule – the Florida State Match-Up – at the Seminoles Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee (March 20-22).
