A 14-year-old Crestview student is charged with writing a threat to commit a school shooting.

An investigation was immediately launched after a threat to shoot up Crestview High School was found written in red marker on the bathroom wall of a girls’ restroom the morning of January 26th. The message was cleaned up but a second threat was found the same day in the same restroom.

Through investigative efforts, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office ultimately connected the writing to Joselynn Waldron.

Waldron was arrested February 5th on the charge of issuing a written threat of a mass shooting.

She was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview.

“Making threats is never harmless,” said Sheriff Eric Aden. “And the consequences can follow a student into adulthood in multiple negative ways. As we always stress, early reporting can prevent tragedy. If you see something, say something. I am thankful our agency and the Okaloosa County School District have such an outstanding partnership in working to prioritize student safety. We are grateful to Superintendent Marcus Chambers, the School Board, and school officials for the ongoing, focused cooperation and commitment we share in this mission. “
