Mancuso Scores Five Goals in 16-4 Win Over Kennesaw State

TALLAHASSEE- The Florida State lacrosse team (2-0) defeated Kennesaw State (0-1) 16-4 on Monday afternoon at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex.

Florida State opened the game trading early goals with Kennesaw State before pulling away behind a strong offensive showing. After a shot-clock violation gave the Seminoles their first possession, Lola Mancuso scored the game’s opening goal to put FSU ahead.

Kennesaw State answered twice to take a brief lead, but Florida State responded with goals from Meg Kenny and Brynn Perkins to regain control. Mancuso added her second goal late in the quarter on an 8-meter long opportunity, giving FSU a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Seminoles dominated the second quarter, scoring quickly to extend their advantage. Mancuso and Perkins continued to lead the attack as Florida State scored three goals in the opening two minutes of the period. Sienna Cassella and Summer Harrell also found the back of the net as FSU maintained consistent pressure.

Kennesaw State managed one goal midway through the quarter, but the Seminoles closed the half with a late score to take a 10-3 lead at halftime.

Florida State continued to control the game in the second half, building on its halftime lead with steady offensive pressure and strong defensive stops.

Kenny opened the scoring in the third quarter, and the Seminoles quickly followed with goals from Kate Christos and Mancuso, extending the lead to 13–3 by the end of the period.

Florida State limited Kennesaw State’s opportunities, holding them scoreless in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Florida State maintained its momentum as Charlise Cox scored the first goal of her collegiate career. The Seminoles added goals from Anna Ellis and Alyssa Deacy while continuing to shut down Kennesaw State’s offensive chances. FSU closed out the game for its second win of the season.

Mancuso scored a game-high five goals, marking seven goals in her first two games as Seminole. Perkins added a hat trick, and Kenny finished with two goals in the victory.

Florida State will head west for its first ACC matchup, traveling to face California at California Memorial Stadium on Friday. The opening draw is set for 6 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ACCNX, and live stats will be available on seminoles.com.
