Walker Named ACC Co-Performer of the Week
TALLAHASSEE – Florida State women’s track and field student-athlete Shenese Walker was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Co-Performer of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, marking her second weekly honor this season.
“Shenese continues to impress,” said head coach Matt Kane. “We have been waiting to see that record broken for about a year, and glad she was able to not just break it but leave no doubt that she is the best 60-meter runner in FSU history.”
Walker delivered a statement at the Razorback Invitational, rewriting the record books in the women’s 60-meter dash. The senior eased through the preliminaries with a 7.19 before taking off in the semifinals, posting a time of 7.09 for a new program and ACC record. The Jamaican native’s performance now stands as the NCAA-leading mark and ranks as the fifth-fastest time in the world this season.
