Florida’s Ahmed Jaouadi Named SEC Men’s Co-Freshmen of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After sweeping his three individual events in the No. 4 Gators’ in-state rivalry win over No. 13 Florida State, Florida’s Ahmed Jaouadi was named the Southeastern Conference Men’s Co-Freshman of the Week.

The Tunis, Tunisia, native led the men’s team with a meet-high 27 points, highlighted by first-place finishes and NCAA qualifying times in both distance freestyle races. Jaouadi won the 500 free in 4:16.00 and the 1,650 free in 14:39.75, while also claiming victory in the 200 free (1:35.05). Additionally, he added a 20.84 split as the second leg of Florida’s 200 free relay, which recorded an exhibition time of 1:24.08.

 

The honor marks the freshman’s third SEC weekly award, as he was recognized as Co-Freshmen of the Week on Jan. 20, 2026 and Freshman of the Week on Nov. 4, 2025.

 

He stands top three in distance freestyle events in Division I, ranked second in the nation in the 500 free (4:10.72) and third in the 1,650 free (14:39.10).

Florida turns its attention to championship season and will begin preparations for the 2026 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships. The six-day championship opens Monday, Feb. 16, with men’s 1-meter diving, followed by swimming events from Tuesday, Feb. 17 through Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
