Gators Rearrange Record Books on Final Day of Razorback Invitational
Across the two-day competition, the Orange and Blue reached the podium eight times, highlighted by four first-place finishes and 11 new all-time, top ten marks.

Distance
Jonathan Leon set the tone early for the Gators, kickstarting the day in the men’s 3000m morning section with a personal best time of 8:08.81. The performance secured Leon a first place finish and vaulted him to No. 8 on Florida’s all-time indoor list.
Florida continued its strong showing in the mile, placing two athletes into the program’s top ten all-time. Oussama Allaoui clocked a 4:01.74 in the first heat to move into the No. 7 spot, while Riley Smith delivered a sub-four minute mark with a 3:59.02, claiming first in his heat by one-hundredth of a second and rising to No. 3 in the school record books.
A new Gator Great emerged on the 3000m list, as Kelvin Cheruiyot found himself atop another school record after his 7:47.45 finish Saturday afternoon, surpassing the previously held No. 1 spot by nearly eleven seconds. The freshman phenom now holds both the indoor 5000m and indoor 3000m school record in just his second meet of the indoor season.
On the women’s side, Desma Chepkoech and Reagan Gilmore also etched their names into the Florida record books. Chepkoech’s 9:10.98 placed her No. 7 all-time, while Gilmore followed closely with a 9:12.27 to claim the No. 8 spot in the program’s indoor 3000m history.
Throws
Freshman thrower Jarno van Daalen tied Florida’s seventh best shot put record at 19.17m / 62’10.75″ on his fourth attempt of the day while older sister Alida van Daalen finished second among all collegians in the field and fourth overall with a heaving 17.10m / 56’1.25″ mark in the women’s shot put.
Relays
Florida took the event of the evening in the men’s 4x400m relay to post a season best 3:04.04. After trailing heading into the final leg of the race, Jaden Horton-Mims recorded a 46.30 split to eventually give the Gators the go ahead in the final second.
UP NEXT
Florida returns to Fayetteville, Ark for the Tyson Invitational from Feb. 13-14 for its second of three trips to the Natural State.
Additionally, a congregation of Gators will make their way to Boston for the BU Hemery Valentine Invitational set for Feb 13-14.
