GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4/10 Florida men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams swept in-state rival No. 13/NR Florida State in dominant fashion on Friday. Swimming events took place at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training (FAST) Facility in Ocala, Fla., while Gator diving hosted the Seminoles in the O’Connell Center Natatorium.

The Gators recorded a combined 13 event sweeps on Friday, highlighted by diving victories in both the men’s and women’s springboard events. Florida swimming opened and closed the meet with wins in the 200y medley relay and 200y free relay, while also winning both distance freestyle, butterfly, 200y backstroke, 200y breaststroke and 400y individual medley events.

 

The men were led by freshman Ahmed Jaouadi and senior Josh Liendo, who contributed 27 and 18 individual points, respectively. Jaouadi captured both distance free events as well as the 200y free and posted NCAA qualifying times in the 1,650y free and 500y free. Liendo swept the fly events, while recording NCAA qualifying times, and swam on both winning relay teams. On the women’s side, sophomore Anita Bottazzo and junior diver Camyla Monroy each tallied 18 points. Bottazzo swept the 100 and 200y breast events and swam the second leg of both winning relay teams, while Monory captured wins in both springboard events, scoring 316.50 on one-meter and 369.00 on three-meter.

 

Swimming

Both the men and women posted 11 event victories. The men recorded nine NCAA qualifying times and saw 10 different swimmers earn at least one first-place finish, while the women recorded five NCAA qualifying times with 11 swimmers earning an event win. Additionally, Olympic gold medalist Ahmed Hafnaoui, a redshirt junior from Tunis, Tunisia, made his Gator debut in the 500y free, touching the wall in 4:23.90.

 

The men’s 200-yard medley relay team of Jonny Marshall, Koen de Groot, Scotty Buff and Liendo opened the meet with an NCAA qualifying win of 1:23.38, while Devin Dilger, Alexander Painter, Liendo and Buff closed the meet with a first-place finish of 1:16.63 in the 200y free relay.

 

Florida’s men claimed the top-two spots in the opening three individual events. Jaouadi and Gio Linscheer went one-two in the 1,650y free with NCAA qualifying times of 14:39.75 and 14:57.58, respectively, before Jaouadi captured the 200y free in 1:35.05, followed by Eric Brown (1:36.06). Marshall won the 100y back with an NCAA qualifying time of 46.04, with Caleb Maldari in second (46.80). Aleksas Savickas (53.64) and de Groot (54.25) went two-three in the 100y breast, while Savickas (1:56.98) and Jordan Willis (1:58.02) finished one-two in the 200y breast. Liendo claimed first in both the 100 and 200y fly events with NCAA qualifying times of 45.28 and 1:40.12, respectively.

 

The Gators swept the top-three spots in the 50y free and 200y back. Painter won the 50y free in 19.49, followed by Buff (19.94) and Dilger (19.95). Aiden Norman recorded an NCAA qualifying time of 1:40.99 to win the 200y back, with Marshall (1:43.99) in second and Maldari (1:44.31) in third. Linscheer closed the individual events with a victory in the 400y IM, posting an NCAA qualifying time of 3:45.85.

 

Catie Choate, Bottazzo, Beatriz Bezerra and Lainy Kruger opened women’s events winning the 200y medley relay in 1:36.61. Florida then closed the meet with a win in the 200y free relay, as Bezerra, Bottazzo, Sylvia Statkevicius and Kruger touched first in 1:30.62.

 

The Gators went one-two in the 1,650y free, with Michaela Mattes winning in an NCAA qualifying time of 16:07.73 and Camille DeBoer following in 16:27.51. Bezerra (1:48.52) and Grace Rabb (1:49.05) placed second and third in the 200y free, while Aspen Gersper (53.47) and Zuri Ferguson (53.74) went two-three in the 100y back. Ferguson then went on to win the 200y back in 1:56.18, with Choate placing third in 1:58.62.

 

Bottazzo and Reese captured back-to-back victories in the 100y breast (58.32) and 200y fly (1:56.40), both posting NCAA qualifying times. Bottazzo added her second win and NCAA qualifying time of the meet in the 200y breast (2:10.33), followed by Anna Moore in second (2:11.39). Kruger claimed the 100y free in 49.14 and touched second in the 50y free (22.93), with Statkevicius following in third (23.01).

 

Florida closed out the individual events with three consecutive wins. In the 500y free, DeBoer (4:49.31), JoJo Ramey (4:51.86) and Statkevicius (4:51.96) went one-two-three. Rabb followed with a first-place finish in the 100y fly (53.07), and Sofia Plaza rounded out the women’s individual victories with a win in the 400y IM (4:15.35).

 

Diving

Gator diving swept all four springboard events and recorded 11 NCAA Zones qualifying scores.

 

The men claimed the top three spots in both events, led by freshman Jesus Agundez Mora and junior Conor Gesing, who won the one-meter and three-meter events, respectively. Agundez Mora captured the one-meter title (394.50) and placed second on three-meter (385.80), while Gesing finished first on three-meter (407.48) and second on one-meter (385.50). Sophomore Jesus Gonzalez earned third place in both events after scoring a 352.13 on one-meter and a 375.65 on three-meter.

Freshman Alexa Fung and senior Casey Greenberg joined Monory in the top three. Fung earned third on one-meter with a score of 284.03, while Greenberg placed third on three-meter after posting a 296.40.

 

Up Next

Gator diving will celebrate its three seniors—Elisha Dees, Casey Greenberg and Peyton Donald—on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. before the platform competition begins at 11:00 a.m. Platform scores will not count toward the dual meet result and will be used solely for NCAA Zone qualification.

 

Florida will then turn its attention to the postseason, beginning preparations for the 2026 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships. The six-day championship opens Monday, Feb. 16, with men’s 1-meter diving, followed by swimming events from Tuesday, Feb. 17 through Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
