Anna Danilina ’18 Advances to Australian Open Doubles Semifinals
MELBOURNE, Australia — Florida Women’s Tennis alumna Anna Danilina and her doubles partner, Aleksandra Krunic, are headed to the Australian Open Doubles Semifinals following a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 victory over the top-seeded duo of Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend. Siniakova and Townsend won the 2025 Australian Open Doubles Championship, and were ranked number one in the world entering the tournament.
Danilina and Krunic will square off against the five seed Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrowski on Wednesday, Jan. 28. A win in the semifinals would put Danilina in the Australian Open Finals for the second time in her career. In 2022, she teamed with Beatriz Haddad Maia against Barbora Krejcikova and Siniakova, but dropped a tight three-set decision 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-4.
The 2017 NCAA Champion was also competing in Mixed Doubles at the Open, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals with partner JJ Tracy before falling to Stefani and Marcelo Arevalo 2-6, 6-4 [10-7].
