MELBOURNE, Australia – Ben Shelton cruises into the Australian Open quarterfinals, after four rounds of competition. In those four rounds, Shelton faced Ugo Humbert, Dane Sweeny, No. 30 Valenin Vacherot and No. 12 Casper Ruud.

The former Gator dropped only one set to Ruud in the first four rounds of the Australian Open, leading him to face No. 2 Jannik Sinner in the Slam’s quarterfinals.

This match up between Shelton and Sinner marks the pair’s 10th meeting in their career, where Sinner leads Shelton 8-1. Sinner currently tops the ATP Stat Leaderboards in serves, returns and pressure while Shelton ranks at No. 9 in serves and No. 5 in pressure.

The last time Shelton and Sinner met was in the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals back in November, where Sinner defeated Shelton 6-3, 7-6(3). The pair will face off on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
