No. 21/21 Alabama Falls at Auburn, 58-54
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 21/21 Alabama women’s basketball team fell to Auburn, 58-54, Thursday night in Neville Arena.
The Crimson Tide (17-2, 3-2 SEC) saw three players finish in double digits including Jessica Timmons (16), Ta’Mia Scott (12) and Karly Weathers (10). Weathers collected her first double-double of the year in the losing effort, grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds.
Auburn (13-6, 2-3 SEC) was led by Khady Leye with 16 points and nine rebounds.
“We had some uncharacteristic pace about us tonight. Turned the ball over way too much on the road and gave up some critical offensive rebounds. We just didn’t do a very good job guarding (Auburn’s Khady Leye) at the high post and gave too many open looks. So, just a combination of effort and energy that I was disappointed in tonight. Across the board I kept trying to dig a little bit and find other ways and change our defense. We seemed to really struggle. I thought Waiata Jennings and Alancia Ramsey helped us off the bench, but, other than that, I just thought we struggled at all the other spots.”
