Pro Dogs Update: Bulldogs Excelling In NBA, G-League and Internationally

ATHENS, GA. — While Mike White‘s Bulldogs are off to one of the best starts in the history of Georgia Basketball, numerous former UGA standouts are enjoying standout seasons playing professionally as recapped below.
 
Anthony Edwards
The 2020 SEC Freshman of the Year and subsequent No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Edwards continues to assert himself as one of the league’s brightest young stars. Following three straight All-Star Game appearances and consecutive Western Conference Finals finishes, Edwards is averaging a career-high 28.9 points per game for the Minnesota Timberwolves in his sixth pro season. Edwards recently became the third-youngest player in NBA history to score 10,000 points, trailing only LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Edwards signed a 5-year, $245 million deal with Minnesota in July 2023.

 
Asa Newell
Since being selected No. 23 overall by New Orleans and being traded on draft night to Atlanta, the 20-year-old rookie has earned a rotation spot with the hometown Hawks. Newell is averaging five points per game in 31 appearances with Atlanta, posting a season-high 17 points in a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 8. Newell signed a 4-year, $16.2 million contract with the Hawks in July 2025.

 
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
The 2013 SEC Player of the Year is in his 13th NBA season and first with Memphis after being traded by the Orlando Magic in June 2025. Caldwell-Pope has played in all but one game with the Grizzlies, averaging 8.5 points per contest.Caldwell-Pope, 32, is in the second season of a 3-year, $66 million contract signed in July 2024.

  
Nicolas Claxton
Claxton has spent the entirety of his seven-year NBA career with the Brooklyn Nets, and is averaging a career-best 13.1 points and four assists per game. The 26-year-old’s 62.9 percent career field goal percentage is best in Nets’ history, while Claxton ranks fifth in career blocks (583) and 10th in rebounds (2,666). Claxton inked a four-year, $100 million deal with the Nets in June 2024.

Derek Ogbeide
In his first season with the Los Angeles Clippers’ G-League affiliate, Ogbeide is averaging 8.8 points and 5.9 rebounds in 22 games for San Diego. The 2019 UGA grad matched a season-high with 16 points on Jan. 4 against the Long Island Nets.

Terry Roberts

Roberts recently appeared in his 70th game for the Long Island Nets across three professional seasons. The 25-year-old compiled 11 points and five assists for the Nets on Jan. 12 against the Stockton Kings. Roberts is averaging 4.6 points in 11 games for Long Island.

 

Former Dogs playing overseas

Tyree Crump

The former Georgia sharp-shooter has found a home overseas, averaging 20.3 points per game for Al Shamal in Doha, Qatar. Crump starred in Al Shamal’s most recent outing, burying 10 of 13 shot attempts for a team-high 30 points against Al Sadd on Jan. 10.

 

Nemi Djurisic

The 1,100-plus point career scorer in Athens, Djurisic signed with Kumamoto Volters of the Japanese B.League in the offseason. In 28 games with his new club, Djurisic is averaging seven points per contest.

 

Savo Drezgic

Still just 19-years-old, Drezgic is making a name for himself at the professional level. The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game for BC Mega Beograd of the ABA League in Serbia. Last time out, Drezgic poured in 20 points in a 100-98 victory over Vienna on Jan. 5.

 

Mike Edwards

Playing for Rilski Samokov in Bulgaria, Edwards is averaging 9.1 points and 4.3 boards in 15 games. Since graduating from UGA in 2019, Edwards has added a three-point shot to his arsenal, connecting on 12 of 20 triples in his seventh professional season.

 

J.J. Frazier

The former fan-favorite in Athens, Frazier has enjoyed a successful season with Absheron Baku in Azerbaijan. The Glennville, Ga. native, Frazier’s 21.3 points per game lead the team. In a 98-93 win over Gence on Jan. 11, Frazier shot 11-for-15 from the field en route to a 34-point outburst. Frazier also paces the club with 9.8 assists per game.

 

Rayshaun Hammonds

The former three-year Bulldog and Norcross High School standout, Hammonds has asserted himself as the go-to player for Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, a club based in Ulsan, South Korea. Hammonds, 27, has appeared in 29 games, leading the team with 20.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

 

Jordan Harris

After beginning his 2025-26 season with Fortitudo Flat Service in Bologna, Italy, Harris has found a home with the SG Apes in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. On Jan. 13, Harris went for 18 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals in an 81-77 win over the BCH Knights.

 

Dakota Leffew

The first-year pro has scored in double-figures in each of his first nine games for G.S. Lavrio B.C. in Attica, Greece. Leffew, a Hampton, Ga. native, leads the team with 16.8 points per game while shooting 41.7% on three-point attempts in nine appearances.

 

Yante Maten

The former four-year Bulldogs star, Maten posted 17.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in seven outings for San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu, Japan. In his last two games, Maten posted consecutive double-doubles, including a 24-point, 10-rebound effort against the Sendai 89ers.

 

Gerald Robinson

The veteran averaged 11.8 points and 4.1 assists for Dole Basket Rimini in the Serie A2 league in Italy. Robinson poured in a season-high 18 points against Verona on Oct. 19.

 

Noah Thomasson

Thomasson has enjoyed a stellar campaign with Arriva Polski Cukier Torun in Poland, leading the club with 16.9 points per game. Thomasson has also dished out 3.6 assists per game. Last time out, the former UGA guard had 21 points and six dimes against Arka on Jan. 9.

 

Trey Thompkins

Thompkins, a former UGA and Wesleyan School standout, signed with the Formosa Dreamers in Changhua, Taiwan in August. In his first season with the team, the veteran big-man is averaging 17.1 points and 10.4 boards per game. Last time out, Thompkins’ 16-point, 14-rebound double-double against Taipei TM helped the Dreamers improve to 9-8.

 

Terrance Woodbury

A key member of UGA’s famed 2008 SEC Championship squad, Woodbury has enjoyed an excellent season with the Gunma Crane Thunders in Gunma, Japan. Woodbury, 38, is averaging 13.5 points per game on a blistering 65.3% field goal percentage.
