Giana Riley Signs with Club América

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State soccer senior forward Giana Riley has signed with Club América of Liga MX Femenil, the club announced on Thursday.

In two seasons at FSU, Riley helped the Seminoles win a national title in 2025 and an ACC Tournament crown in 2024.

Riley is the fourth Florida State player to sign professionally this offseason after the team won their fifth NCAA championship in early December. Senior defender Heather Gilchrist (Bay FC), junior defender Mimi Van Zanten (San Diego Wave) and sophomore midfielder/forward Taylor Suarez (Angel City FC) all signed with NWSL clubs.

“Credit to Club América for seeing the potential in Giana,” FSU head coach Brian Pensky said. “She is an elite crosser of the ball and can score goals in a variety of ways. Having already played for both the USA and Mexico, starting her professional career in Mexico with a top club makes a lot of sense. This is a terrific opportunity for Giana, and we know she will more than make the best of it.”

A Seminole from 2024-25 after beginning her career at Gonzaga in 2022-23, Riley was recognized on the 2024 Hermann Trophy Watch List and as a 2024 NCAA Forward to Watch. She was named to the All-WCC First Team in 2023.

From Manteca, California, Riley played in 66 career games with 32 starts at both FSU and GU and totaled almost 3,000 minutes. She scored 20 goals with 14 assists for 54 points with 103 shots and 57 shots on goal. Five of her goals were game-winners. With the Seminoles, Riley played in 28 games with one start and scored three goals and had four assists for 10 points on 20 shots, 10 on goal in 768 minutes.

In her 2025 senior season, Riley played in 14 games and notched two assists. She had nine shots, four on goal, in 339 minutes.

Riley has international experience for both the United States and Mexico. She made four appearances for Team USA at the 2024 U-20 World Cup, helping the team win a bronze medal. Riley also has appeared for Mexico’s U-23 squad.
