Walton – Okaloosa Holiday Construction Traffic Advisory

Walton County – 12/19/25– In preparation for Christmas and New Year’s holidays, there will be no lane closures or other activities that impede traffic on major state roads from 12 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 to 11:59 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2.

Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Walton County:

• U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 – Drivers will encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures on U.S. 331, between I-10 and U.S. 90, Sunday, Dec. 21 and Monday, Dec. 22, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.

Okaloosa County:

• Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, Sunday, Dec. 21 through Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities at the following locations:

Santa Rosa Boulevard from U.S. 98 to Ross Marler Park. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone.

U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road.

• Interstate 10 (I-10) eastbound Rest Area and Truck Parking Improvement Project – The truck parking at the I-10 eastbound rest area, at mile marker 59, is temporarily closed for a 120-day period and is scheduled to reopen in

mid-February 2026. During construction, passenger vehicle parking and rest area facilities will remain open.

• U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Santa Rosa County Line to west of Josie Road – Lane closures are expected on Monday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for median improvements. Normal work schedule will resume Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
