FSU Breaks Department Semester GPA Record
TALLAHASSEE – Florida State Athletics posted its highest cumulative semester grade-point average in the fall of 2025, it was announced Tuesday.
FSU’s student-athletes combined to earn a 3.333 GPA, breaking the previous semester record of 3.3301 from the fall of 2024. After the fall 2025 semester, Florida State’s cumulative GPA as a department stands at 3.356, which is also the highest in department history.
“The academic performance of our student-athletes this fall is nothing short of exceptional and represents the standard we expect across Florida State Athletics,” Florida State Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. “The semester GPA and cumulative GPA records speak to the discipline, commitment and support surrounding our student-athletes.”
Eighteen of FSU’s teams posted a semester GPA above a 3.000, and 358 student-athletes earned semester GPAs of at least a 3.000. Women’s golf led all teams with a 3.752 GPA, and men’s tennis had the highest among men’s teams with a 3.526, which was a program record for a semester. Men’s tennis was part of a group of six sports that earned a program-record GPA in the fall of 2025 and was joined by women’s lacrosse with a 3.652, softball’s 3.593, baseball’s 3.367, men’s track and field’s 3.268 and men’s golf’s 3.229.
“Having 18 of our 19 teams earn a semester GPA above 3.0, with more than three-quarters of our student-athletes achieving a 3.0 or higher, underscores a culture that values excellence in the classroom as much as it does in competition,” Alford said. “We’re especially proud of women’s golf and men’s tennis for leading the way, along with our teams that set new program academic records this semester. These results are a direct credit to our student-athletes, coaches, academic support staff, and campus partners who work every day to ensure our Seminoles are prepared for success during their time at Florida State and long after they leave campus.”
FSU celebrated the graduation of 21 student-athletes at the conclusion of the fall semester, and 31 student-athletes earned President’s List recognition for posting perfect 4.000 GPAs. The Dean’s List, recognizing students who achieved at least a 3.500 semester GPA, featured 144 student-athletes.
