MaGee Leads Four Seminoles in Double-Digit Scoring in Florida State’s Loss to Dayton
Florida State fell to 5-6, and Dayton improved to 9-3.
The Seminoles outrebounded the Flyers 37-35 and have now outrebounded their opponents in each of the last three games.
Somerville opened the scoring for Florida State with a 3-point shot to put the Seminoles ahead 3-2.
Somerville finished the game with 11 points, four rebounds, and two made 3-point shots. He has made at least one 3-point shot in every game this season. Somerville has now made multiple 3-point shots in eight of his 11 games as a Seminole.
Cam Miles converted on a layup, which sparked a 9-0 Florida State run. A Jones 3-point make, and two free throws from Somerville cut the Seminoles’ deficit to nine with 5:15 left in the first half.
Jones ended the game with 14 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and two steals. Seven of Jones’ 14 points came from the free throw line.
Florida State cut Dayton’s lead to seven points, 38-31, with 1:28 left in the first half thanks to a layup from Kobe MaGee.
The Seminoles entered the half trailing Dayton 42-31.
Florida State opened the second half scoring with made 3-point shot from AJ Swinton, who made his second career start against the Flyers.
McCray V scored eight of his 10 points in the second half. In addition to his 10 points, McCray V had four rebounds and one assist. McCray V has scored in double-figures in four consecutive games and in nine of the first eleven games of the season.
Dayton’s Javon Bennett led all scorers with 25 points. He made all 12 of his free throw attempts. Bennett has led Dayton in scoring in seven games and has scored at least 20 points in four games this season.
Florida State returns to the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee on Friday, December 19, to take on Mississippi Valley State at 7:00 p.m.
