TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Justin Thomas, two-time PGA Champion and 2013 NCAA Champion at Alabama, has committed $1 million to the Crimson Standard, which will be directed to the men’s and women’s golf facility, the Crimson Reserve.

“Alabama Athletics is incredibly grateful to Justin for his commitment and support of the Crimson Reserve and our golf programs,” said Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne. “We are proud to have one of our finest student-athletes give back to his sport, both financially and with his input on designing our world-class facility.”

Thomas, a standout student-athlete for the Crimson Tide from 2011-13, earned national recognition throughout his career as the Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year, Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year and the Haskins Award winner.

“It’s hard to put into words the love and feelings I have for The University of Alabama,” said Thomas. “I was so lucky to be able to spend two incredible years playing under Coach Seawell. He and his wife, Stephanie, were, and still are, like family to me. This dream of making the Crimson Reserve couldn’t be done without Coach Seawell and Coach Potter and what they’ve done with the programs. I’m honored to have a very small part in it.”

Since turning professional in 2013, Thomas has accumulated two Major victories in 2017 and 2022 as well as the FedEx Cup Championship and PLAYERS Championship. He was named PGA TOUR Player of the Year in 2017 and a year later, reached No. 1 in the world golf rankings. Overall, he has 16 PGA Tour wins along with 10 runner-up finishes.

“I am so proud of Justin and thankful for what he’s meant to our program and The University of Alabama,” said Alabama men’s golf coach Jay Seawell. “He is a big part of the legacy of Alabama golf. It means so much that he would be willing to give back to the golf programs. His impact while at the Capstone and his success on the PGA Tour continues to inspire our current players and his gift will impact young men and women who choose Alabama golf for years to come. This gift reflects the kindness and character of Justin and his family and their commitment to the future success of Alabama golf. We could not be more grateful for his generosity and love of The University of Alabama.”

Considered the top college golf practice facility in the nation, the Crimson Reserve serves as the home to the national champion University of Alabama men’s and women’s golf teams. Dedicated on Sept. 6, 2024, the complex sits less than one mile from the heart of campus on 164 acres of land. The facility includes team locker rooms, lounges and meeting areas, recovery and nutrition spaces, exercise/warmup rooms, a putting lab, three hitting bays for each team with state-of-the-art swing/flight analysis technology, coaches’ offices and locker rooms, along with a 7,200 yard, 9-hole course that gives the flexibility to play 18 holes in a variety of ways.

“Alabama women’s golf is extremely grateful for Justin’s commitment to not only the Crimson Reserve, but also his investment in our student-athletes,” said Alabama women’s golf coach Mic Potter. “Justin Thomas’ impact on Alabama Golf goes beyond the course, and we are thankful that he is giving back to the sport that he excelled in during his time at Alabama and currently in the PGA.”

The official receipt of this commitment must be approved by The Board of Trustees of The University of Alabama. For more information on the Crimson Tide Foundation, including the various ways to give, visit CrimsonTideFoundation.org or call 205-348-9727.
