Bowens, Glover And Griffin Named To Coaches Freshman All-SEC Team
Glover (OL) and Griffin (DL) have played in all 13 games this season while Bowens (RB) has appeared in 11 contests.
Since Glover moved into the starting lineup at right guard, the Bulldogs are 9-0 with four wins over ranked opponents. The second-ranked Bulldogs (12-1) won the SEC title this past Saturday in Atlanta with a 28-7 win over No. 9 Alabama.
Bowens ranks second on the team with 516 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He has been the team’s leading rusher in three games including a career-high 119 yards on just 12 carries in the first meeting with Alabama.
Griffin has been in the defensive line rotation to help the Bulldogs rank fourth nationally in rushing defense at 79.2 yards a game and 11th in scoring defense at 15.9 points a game. He has tallied 18 tackles, one sack and registered 13 quarterback pressures.
Georgia earned a first round bye in the College Football Playoffs (CFP) as a top four seed. The Bulldogs, seeded third, will play in the CFP quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1 at 8 p.m. EST against either No. 6 Ole Miss or No. 20 Tulane. The Rebels (11-1) play host to the Green Wave (11-2) in first-round CFP action on Dec. 20 at 3:30 EST.
