Crimson Tide in the NFL Spotlight: Week 14
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The National Football League concluded Week 14 of the regular season Monday evening. Below is a look at how former Alabama players performed on the gridiron last week.
A handful of former Alabama defensive backs managed impressive performances for their respective squads, highlighted by New York Jets’ safety Malachi Moore. The rookie safety finished with seven tackles, achieving the mark for the fourth time this season. Also in the AFC, Baltimore Ravens’ corner Marlon Humphrey totaled four tackles and a season-high three pass deflections.
In the NFC, Lions’ safety Brian Branch shined in Detroit’s 44-30 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, tallying six tackles, a pass deflection and a fumble recovery. Kool-Aid McKinstry notched a season-high seven tackles for the New Orleans Saints in a 24-20 over Tampa Bay. On the opposing sideline, Buccaneers’ linebacker Chris Braswell picked up three tackles, one of which was a sack.
Offensively, the duo of running back Jahmyr Gibbs and receiver Jameson Williams produced notable performances on Thursday night for the Lions. Gibbs was responsible for 43 yards on 12 carries with three touchdowns on the ground along with seven receptions for 77 yards through the air. Williams hauled in seven catches for 96 yards while his lone rush resulted in a seven-yard run.
Former Alabama running backs Derrick Henry and Josh Jacobs each rose to the occasion on Sunday. Henry was tasked with a season-high 25 carries for 94 yards to go for Baltimore to go with one reception for eight yards. Jacobs led the Green Bay Packers to a 28-21 victory over the Chicago Bears, finishing with 20 carries for 86 yards in addition to a pair of receptions for six combined yards.
Rounding out the group was Cleveland wideout Jerry Jeudy. The Browns’ WR1 offered one of his most productive games of the season, catching three passes for 76 yards to go with a touchdown.
