Football’s Lee Jr. Named Alexander Award Finalist

PHILADELPHIA – Alabama’s Dijon Lee Jr. was named a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Wednesday.

Lee Jr. is one of five finalists for the Alexander, an award presented to the most outstanding freshman player in college football. The recipient of the 2025 Alexander Award will be announced on Dec. 30, followed by a formal presentation of the trophy at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Atlanta, Ga.

Alabama has produced two Alexander Award winners in the honor’s six-year existence, with Will Anderson Jr. garnering the distinction in 2020 and Caleb Downs in 2023.

Dijon Lee Jr.

Cornerback, Freshman

  • A lengthy defender that has earned extensive playing time in the Crimson Tide’s defensive secondary
  • Started each of the last five games at corner for the Tide while having seen time in all 12 games
  • Totaled 30 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss (-12 yards), to go with two interceptions and four pass breakups
  • Surrendered just 10 receptions on 24 targets for a team-low 41.7 percent catch rate during his first season of collegiate football
  • Owns a 78.6 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus, the sixth-highest grade among all freshmen cornerbacks in Division I
