Georgia Moves to 8-0 with 68-62 Win Against Previous Unbeaten Kansas

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Led by 23 points from sophomore guard Dani Carnegie – her third-straight game with 20 or more this season – the University of Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team defeated Kansas, 68-62, Friday evening in the first game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off. 

Notable 

  • Georgia improves to 8-0 this season and is off to its best start since 2020. Kansas suffers its first loss of the 2025-26 campaign.

  • After falling behind 16-7 at the end of the first quarter, Georgia outscored Kansas 25-13 in the second period to take a lead at the half. The Lady Bulldogs have outscored their last three opponents by a 63-21 margin in the second quarter. 

  • Georgia held Kansas to a season-low 62 points and season-low 37 percent shooting effort. 

  • The Lady Bulldogs committed just 14 turnovers and scored 15 points off Kansas miscues. 

  • S’Mya Nichols scored 40 of the Jayhawks’ 62 points, marking the second-most points scored against the Lady Bulldogs by an opponent in school history. 

Individual Notes

  • Dani Carnegie recorded her eighth consecutive game in double digits and her third-straight 20-point effort this season. 

  • Aicha Ndour scored a season best eight points to go with a career-high five blocks in the win.

  • Rylie Theuerkauf posted her second consecutive game in double figures, scoring 11 points with a trio of 3-pointers.
