The Thunder defeated the Pacers in seven games to clinch the 2024-25 NBA title.

Now, with the 2025-26 preseason well underway, it’s time to discuss this season.

Will the Thunder repeat as champions? Will the Rockets — who made a blockbuster trade for Kevin Durant — win it all? Or, will another active squad from summer pull off the feat?

Here is what to know about the NBA title oddsboard:

The Reigning Champs: OKC’s odds shortened opened at +260 post-title run, and the Thunder now sit at +170. Through 15 games, OKC is 14-1 (best record in the league) and Jalen Williams hasn’t played a single game, while Chet Holmgren has missed several. OKC also has a league-high point differential of 15.4 The best is getting better. Now, the question is, can the Thunder approach the all-time record of 73 regular-season wins, and potentially win 74 or more. As of today, they are on pace to do just that. 

Immediate Contenders: Second on the board is Denver, closely followed by Cleveland. At 10-3, the Nuggets have the second-best offense in the league (124.6 points per game) and have the second-best point differential (+11.9). As for Cleveland, it has the second-best record in the East (10-5) behind the surprising Detroit Pistons (12-2), who are at +4000 to win the title.

Respect On Its Name: Detroit appears for real. The Pistons, as mentioned, have the best record in the East, and they are doing it with defense. Detroit has the third-best defense in the league behind OKC (of course) and Boston, allowing 112.1 points per game. Detroit lost its season-opener at Chicago and lost to Cleveland in the fourth game of the season — that’s it. Since then, the Pistons have won 10 in a row. Now, the competition hasn’t been the stiffest. They only have five wins over teams above .500, and two of those are against the 7-6 Bulls. Still, put some respect on Detroit’s name.
