ORLANDO, Fla. – The Gators travel three to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships tournament, being held at the USTA National Campus. Junior Jeremy Jin qualified for the tournament’s singles bracket which begins at Tuesday, Nov. 18. The pairing of junior Henry Jefferson and senior Tanapatt Nirundorn earned a spot in the doubles bracket and will begin competition on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

The trio of Gators all entered the season ranked by the ITA in both singles and doubles. Jin entered as the ITA singles No. 45 and Jefferson and Nirundorn ranked at ITA doubles No. 33.

Making NCAAs:

Jin qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship following his performance at the ITA Conference Masters Championship on Nov. 6-8. Jin qualified for NCAAs after defeating Kevin Titus Suresh of Saint Francis University, No. 65 Azuma Visaya from the University of Hawaii and No. 36 Emon van Loben Sels from UCLA to reach the semifinals of the tournament. With other players withdrawing from the competition after qualifying, Jin was named the champion of the ITA Conference Masters.

Jefferson and Nirundorn have been bound for the NCAA doubles tournament since the Gators first tournament of the fall season. The duo played at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, where they reached the competition’s semifinals to qualify. The pair defeated No. 9 Bruno Nhavene/Oscar Lacides (Oklahoma), No. 20 Billy Blaydes/Freddy Blaydes (Auburn) and No. 39 Lucas Brown/Sebastian Gorzny (Texas).

Gators NCAA Tournament History:

The Gators have had four singles national champions, with two coming in the last five years. The Gators went back-to-back in singles titles with Ben Shelton winning in 2022 and Sam Riffice winning the title in 2021, while Jeff Morrison won in 1999 and Mark Merklein was the first Gator to win the title in 1994.

On the doubles side the program has had one doubles pairing win an individual title, which was David Blair and Mark Merklein in 1993.
