Alabama Remains Undefeated After Defeating Alabama A&M 66-43

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s basketball team scored 40 points inside the paint and defeated Alabama A&M, 66-43, Monday night inside Coleman Coliseum. It marked the third time in four games that the Crimson Tide defense has held the opposition to under 45 points in a game this season on its way to improving to 4-0 for the third consecutive year. 

Essence Cody, who has scored double digits in every game this season, led the Tide with 13 points to go along with game highs of seven rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots. Jessica Timmons also added 13 points while Diana Collins chipped in with 10 points and three assists.

Alabama A&M was led by Coriah Beck’s 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.

“I really appreciate the meaning of tonight’s game with it being our Bama Salute – just a salute from our program to all the military, past and present, who give us an opportunity to have freedom each and every day, so we really appreciate them. We’ve enjoyed partnering with our ROTC group here on campus, and the energy and support and spending time together with them has helped grow our leadership, our character, our togetherness, and I just appreciate all of them coming out tonight to support us.”

  • In comparison, Alabama A&M shot 14-of-47 (30 percent) from the floor, 2-of-8 (25 percent) from deep and 13-of-16 (81 percent) from the charity stripe

  • Alabama opened the game with a 7-0 run, setting the tone early before taking a 20-12 at the end of the first
  • The Tide was an efficient 9-of-15 (60 percent) from the field in the opening stanza
  • The Crimson Tide controlled both ends of the floor, grabbing 14 rebounds and scoring 13 points off turnovers to maintain its lead heading into the half (36-24)
  • UA’s defense tightened up in the third quarter, allowing just seven points to extend its led to 18 (49-31)
  • Alabama never surrendered its lead, maintaining control from start to finish outscoring Alabama A&M 17-12 in the fourth quarter alone to result in the final score
